Sanford was home and will forever be home!

"I lived and grew up in Sanford for 20 years. I played little league baseball games on the diamonds where I hit my first inside the park home run. I fished under the bridge and the dam with my grandparents, ate ice cream at the local shop, and walked around the town with my parents and brother. Bike rides, boating trips, and just great memories. Every year, we would go down and watch the Memorial Day pride with my entire family and then have our BBQ.

I couldn't believe the amount of destruction that had been caused. You could feel the sadness and pain that was in the air. All my childhood memories flushed straight to the front my brain and it was so overwhelming.

We were asked to help the owner of Fieros Forever, to try and salvage what we could from this man's entire life. Everything he every worked for and loved was in that store. He was going to sell in April and retire shortly after. But now his world was washed away, under 4 inches of mud and in trees across the rail trail. He and his son were so grateful for all the help and support and more people just kept coming and coming.

The amount of people that showed up to help was just incredible! Those that helped pick up debris and try to save what they could. Consumers trying to keep everyone safe from down power lines. Those whom brought food and water around to make sure no one was dehydrating or going hungry. Even saw a gentleman going around and praying with those in need. To see that amount of people come together and have one goal, to show there is still humanity in this world, is just incredible!

Thank you to all my friends and family that also came out to help and do your part."
